Course Description

This course focuses on the strategic use of engineering, technology and innovation with a view towards developing more qualified technical managers. Engineers and scientists spend 2/3 of their professional careers managing technology within technology infused organizations. This course is designed to help the students become more effective managers of technology that they often create and implement in their organizations. The course will cover the intergration of technology and strategy with innovation in modern corporations. Design and evolution of technology strategy will then be illustrated with readings and case studies. Enactment of technology strategy to develop the corporate innovative capabilities will be discussed leading to the creation and implementation of a development strategy to achieve competitive advantage. 3 credits

Prerequisites: ENGR5010 or ENGR5020 or ENGR5030
