Course Description

This course explains the princiles ofmanaging engineers and their work in technology with a view towards developing more qualified technical managers. Engineers and scientists spend 2/3 of their professional careers managing technical people within technology infused organizations. This course is designed to help them become more effective managers of engineers, scientists and the technology that they often create and implement in their organizations. The course will cover an introduction to Engineering Management discipline first and then go deeper into the functions of technology management that engineers and scientists should know. This will be reinforced by the product life cycle as part of the process of managing technology. The course will be completed by discussions on engineering and managing technical projects and engineering management career planning for achieving professional effectiveness in the technology infused work envioronments. 3 credits
