  • Out of concern for the lingering Covid-19 pandemic, RMU will cancel this year's University Holiday Party for faculty and staff that had been originally set for Thursday, December 23. The campus community has done a great job this semester with the return of in-person events and in-person instruction, and we wanted to be sure to send everyone home safe and healthy for the holidays. We are looking at options to have a faculty and staff celebration during the spring semester, and will keep you posted via the Minuteman. In accordance with RMU tradition, the university will close for the winter break at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 23. Staff members should consult their manager if they have any questions about their department's work schedule.

  • The Center for Veterans and Military Families is proud to announce RMU student veteran Olivia Smith and student veteran alumnus Zach Moran have graduated from Leadership Pittsburgh's exclusive Community Leadership Course for Veterans (CLCV) cohort VIII. CLCV leverages the skills and experiences of post-9/11 veterans for the betterment of the broader Pittsburgh region. Through participation in the six-month-long course, CLCV cohort members develop a greater understanding of our region, meet with business and community leaders, as well as utilize their leadership skills to accomplish a community impact project in partnership with a local nonprofit organization. This course provides participants with the exposure, experiences, and connections that prepare them to tackle the challenges of our community.

  • The RMU Center for Innovation and Outreach is hosting the Coraopolis NAACP ACT-SO competition on campus on Saturday, April 9, 2022. The kick-off event was held virtually this past Saturday. Students were welcomed by President Howard and featured guest speaker Chandi Chapman from Pittsburgh Action News 4. Each year, high school students across the country start a journey to sharpen their skills through the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO). From visual arts and business to performing and culinary arts, participants work with community-based volunteers for a year to develop projects and performances. The experience culminates in local and national events where students compete for scholarships and other rewards. If you are interested in participating as a faculty judge for any of these categories please reach out to RMU Chief Diversity Officer Anthony Robins or Sarah Rose at moores@rmu.edu

  • The Center for Innovation and Outreach held a Engineering Virtual Career Exploration November 10. RMU hosted 38 students, counselors, and teachers from 15 local high schools for a virtual career exploration surrounding the field of engineering and its invaluable place in today's modern day workforce. The career panel involved RMU undergraduates Xiara Long and Natalee Calfo-Carroll and RMU alumni Carol Nelson and Josh Liepheimer. The event was led by Ben Campbell, associate professor of engineering. If you would like to host a virtual career exploration session for your department or to highlight a specific degree program, please contact Outreach Manager Sarah Rose at moores@rmu.edu.
