A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Hoy Young Jr. of West Virginia, lost his house in a fire and moved into a tiny house that was built thanks to two RMU students. Dale Miller ’17 and Mary Funderlich ’18 developed a business plan to build the dwelling as part of their honors project. Construction was then made possible thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Colcom Foundation. Instrumental in the project's completion was Sushil Acharya, RMU associate provost for research, global initiatives and development. Read the full story here.

- The RMU Center for Innovation and Outreach invites you to attend the inaugural Virtual Innovation Speaker Series event, featuring Dr. Anthony So of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a welcome by President Chris Howard. On January 29 from 2-3 p.m. So will be presenting "Lowering The Price of Hope: Innovating For Global Health Equity." RMU employees should check their emails for the invitation and registration link or email Rika Carlsen at carlsen@rmu.edu to register for the event.
- The new Veterans Integration to Academic Leadership Program aims to address the mental health of our student Veterans on campus through direct care and education to the campus community. In collaboration with the RMU Counseling Center and VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System Suicide Prevention Team, you are warmly invited to attend our upcoming virtual training, Veteran Suicide Prevention: Operation S.A.V.E. on February 10th, 2021 from noon to 1 p.m. via Google Meet. From this training, you will learn applicable skills that can save lives by being sensitive to students in distress and connecting them with care. While this training discusses suicide prevention among Veterans, the knowledge and skills can be applied to all students. All staff and faculty who encounter students are encouraged to attend, no prior knowledge or experience required. Please RSVP by emailing hample@rmu.edu who will share the Google Meet invitation.
