The psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner graduate certificate provides candidates with the educational foundation to diagnose and manage individuals of all ages experiencing psychiatric diagnoses.

This program is for primary care nurse practitioners and adult psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who want to expand their knowledge and manage care of individuals across the lifespan. Prerequisites include graduate-level courses in pharmacology, pathophysiology, and advanced physical assessment and diagnosis. Upon completion of the program, individuals will be eligible for national certification as a PMHNP.

This certificate program can be completed in five semesters one day per week within a traditional classroom setting or online, as a standalone certificate, or paired with the online master’s-to-DNP degree.

RMU also offers students the Access to Interprofessional Mental Health Education (AIME) program, whose mission is to expand the number of psychiatric mental health care providers and educate future Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners to provide evidence-based holistic care as part of an interprofessional team to individuals of all ages experiencing mental health problems.
