RMU’s Certificate in Tax Analytics is intended to help tax professionals become data-savvy and capable of effectively using analytics skills to support tax and business decision-making. Our curriculum focuses on fostering a student's analytical mindset and developing his or her ability to apply essential concepts and techniques of data science and data mining to real-world tax and business problems. Students will learn how to manipulate large sets of financial and nonfinancial data, identify trends and patterns in those data, communicate data-based insights, and make data-driven decisions. Our certificate is designed to prepare tax professionals to work effectively as crucial liaisons between clients, IT, and other functional teams.
The Certificate in Tax Analytics consists of four courses: one basic taxation course from the M.S. in Taxation program and three analytics courses from RMU's MBA program. The taxation course meets on-ground in downtown Pittsburgh on a weekday evening. The analytics courses are online. Students can complete the certificate as a stand-alone professional credential. They can also apply the courses for the certificate toward the completion of the M.S. in Taxation degree, in which case they would earn both the degree and the certificate.
