Commencement: Details and Information
Commencement is the culmination of your years of hard work at Robert Morris University. This is a time to celebrate your success and a time to share this achievement with your family and friends. You will find the information needed to get ready for a great day of lasting memories.
The Commencement Ceremonies
Undergraduate students will be provided with four tickets for guest seating at UPMC Event Center. There are no tickets for the graduate ceremony as this is a first-come, first-serve guest seating. Please note: Strollers are not permitted inside the arena.
We ask that you please turn off or silence your mobile device for the duration of the ceremony.
The class of 2020 continues Robert Morris University’s tradition of philanthropy and raising funds for the class gift. This year, the Class of 2020 has elected to support the Student Affairs Fund.
The Student Affairs Fund enriches the student experience by providing support for events and on campus activities. When you give, you don't just support programming, you support passions and build a foundation for experiences and individual growth.
In order to reach our goal, we are seeking 100% participation from the Class of 2020. If you would like to make a gift in honor of your graduation, please call Institutional Advancement at 412-397-5420.
Immediately following both commencement ceremonies, we invite our graduates and their guests for light refreshments to celebrate their achievement.
RSVP for Commencement
For those who were not able to attend Senior Salute (graduation fair), students are required to RSVP for the commencement ceremony at the UPMC Event Center. This form also includes the special accommodation seating request.
Undergraduate Commencement Tickets
Graduates and guests are advised that commencement tickets are University property and the sale and/or copying of commencement tickets is strictly prohibited.

Guests may not approach the stage to take photos or videos while the ceremony is in progress. Handheld cameras and video cameras are permitted in the arena; tripods are not permitted. Please be respectful of other guests when taking photographs or videos.
Professional photographers will take your picture as you receive your diploma on stage. Island Photography (islandphoto.com) will then send you sample proofs via e-mail, and you will have the option of ordering from a variety of sizes. There is no obligation to purchase.
Emergencies and First Aid for the Commencement Ceremonies
First aid is available on site. If you need emergency assistance while on campus, dial 412-397-2424. Campus police will respond immediately.
The university alcohol policy will be in effect on commencement weekend. Please do not bring alcoholic beverages to commencement events.
No childcare will be provided by the University during the ceremony. However, the main concourse of the UPMC Event Center is an area designated for anyone who may need to step out of the main arena.
There are no facilities for securing personal items such as purses, backpacks or other valuables. It is highly recommended you do not bring personal items with you or leave them with a guest.
Balloons, signs, air horns or other disruptive items are not permitted in the arena.
If you are planning lunch reservations after the ceremony, we would recommend 30-60 minute cushion to allow you time for photos and leaving the campus.
Special Accommodation Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is guaranteed by advance reservations.
We ask that requests are limited to those who need special accommodations plus one additional person to assist. We understand that this may cause families and guests to be separated during the ceremony, and we apologize for that inconvenience. However, in order to accommodate the growing number of guests with special accommodations, we must ask that only those needing special seating utilize those seats. Due to high demand of Special Accommodation Seating, we must limit the number of seats one can request to 4 passes.

Special accommodation passes must be accompanied by a ticket to the UPMC Event Center for the Undergraduate Ceremony.

Parking so many people in a short time on commencement day is a challenge. Please keep traffic going as smoothly as possible on campus and nearby roads. Please see the link on the left side bar to review the parking map.
Parking is available in Sewall #1 Lot, number 47 on the map. Shuttle service will be provided.
