Admission to Education Programs
For Incoming Freshmen
To receive acceptance to Robert Morris University's education programs, a new freshman student must meet one of the following sets of academic criteria:

950-990 | 20 | 3.25 |
900-940 | 19 | 3.5 |
All education majors must apply for formal admission to candidate status in an education program following the completion of 48 credits of college-level work. There are specific grade point average, course specifications, and other requirements that must be met at that time.
Admission to an education major as a freshman or transfer student with less than 48 credits is not a guarantee of formal admission to candidate status in an education program. Students must continue to meet all requirements in order to continue in any education program at Robert Morris University.
For Transfer Students
To receive acceptance to Robert Morris University as an education major, a transfer student (both internal and external) must meet the following sets of academic criteria:
- Transfer applicants with less than 30 earned college credits must meet the following criteria to receive acceptance to a teacher certification program at RMU:
- a minimum 3.0 cumulative college gpa
- have attempted the PAPA Basic Skills Exam, and
- submitted three acceptable criminal record/child abuse clearances.
- Transfer applicants with more than 30 earned college credits must meet the following criteria to receive acceptance to a teacher certification program at RMU:
- a minimum 3.0 cumulative college gpa
- have passed the PAPA Basic Skills Exam, and
- submitted three acceptable criminal record/child abuse clearances.
