For over 80 years, Robert Morris University has served Western Pennsylvania with pioneering educational programs that combine a strong general knowledge base, intensive training in core skills and a focus on career-building. In the last decade, we've instituted 13 new bachelor's degree programs, six new master's programs and a doctoral degree program, all in response to local industry needs and student interest. Practical / Innovative Every educational program at Robert Morris University is designed to give our students the skills they need to develop and succeed in the real world. We have a practical focus that nobody else can offer, but we look at contemporary business and professional issues in some very creative ways. We work hard to keep on top of the latest developments. Our small size and dedicated faculty allow us to add and revise programs frequently, which provides a great advantage to our students because they always get the latest perspectives. The Robert Morris University Core
Many people with talent, intelligence and ability don't achieve as well as expected. Why? In most cases, lack of the right communications skills prevents others from realizing their value. At Robert Morris University, we start teaching you the essentials of business-oriented communications from your very first day on campus. In our Communications Skills Program , you'll take a series of courses in which you'll explore different elements of effective communications, learn what works, and integrate them into your chosen field of work.

As part of your Robert Morris University experience, you can build a robot, produce a television show or be an intern at a local corporation. Most of these options are open to you as early as your first semester, no matter what you're studying. Whatever you choose to do - in or out of the classroom - you'll have plenty of opportunities to work closely with faculty and fellow students. Teamwork is in demand in the workplace; you'll experience it firsthand at RMU. And you'll build friendships and relationships that will last the rest of your life.

RMU graduates are highly sought after; last year over 96 percent landed a job in their chosen field within six months of graduation. Employers value our students for their unique ability to approach realworld situations in creative ways. They typically possess a maturity and a skill level unique for people fresh out of college.

We keep in touch with industry leaders to find out their workforce needs and what they look for in employees. We talk to our students and prospects to find out what interests them. Then we design degree programs that match the two.

Exciting We offer a total educational experience in a vibrant learning community. You'll find plenty of extracurricular activities at Robert Morris University. Some of them will help you grow professionally, while others are just plain fun. Join a club to discuss your major field of study and develop exciting projects, participate in intramural sports to blow off some steam, or work with fellow students to help others who are less fortunate. It's all here; reach out and take advantage of it. Robert Morris' sports teams reveal a lot about who we are and our outlook on life. We believe in working together to win. Our athletes have scored over 40 championships in 13 sports over the past two decades. And they're academic champs, too; Robert Morris University boasts 6 NEC Scholar-Athletes and 7 Verizon/CoSiDA All-Academic Team Honorees among its students and recent alumni.

Most of our faculty have actually worked in the areas they teach. Many retain close contacts in business and industry. Our small class size allows our professors to work very closely with students on an ongoing basis. Your faculty advisor, a professor in your field of study, will work closely with you to select the right courses at the right time.

What good is technology if you have to wait in line for it, it's outdated or you can't get to it until your senior year? Robert Morris University features spacious, well-equipped computing facilities. Every single computer on campus is replaced within three years and software is regularly upgraded. Our IT staff is available to help you if you encounter any difficulties.

In today's world, we use technology in so many ways that we sometimes don't even notice it. That's the way technology is integrated into RMU. With your RMU network ID, you can access the library and other services - such as course registration, grades, payments and transcript requests - either through a campus computing facility or remotely from your home or residence hall. You can also check in regularly with our automated degree audit program to trace the progress you're making towards your degree.

From the classroom to extracurricular activities, everything we do here is conceived to help you grow, learn and succeed. As a relatively small university, we offer a lot of contact with faculty and staff. We're dedicated to your success even before you enroll. In fact, we only admit students who we feel can really benefit from what we have to offer. We go through an extensive matching process that helps us get to know one another and measures your chances for an enjoyable and valuable experience at RMU.
Once you're here, Career Center counselors will work with you to build an effective resume, find your first job and plot a growth-oriented career path. We also work with alumni to further their goals and career objectives. And our Center for Student Success offers tutoring and learning reinforcement across the curriculum for those who need extra help. Clergy from 11 different faiths and denominations are available to help with the spiritual aspects of your development, whether you're an established member or simply curious. Frequent services are held at the Robert Morris University Chapel, which is located at the highest point on campus. On-campus living arrangements offer a chance to participate even more fully in RMU's warm community life. Our residential facilities include both traditional dormitories and ultra-modern apartment suites. A variety of practical life skills courses - covering simple things, like doing laundry as well as more complex things, like managing your finances - are available to meet your needs.

We're proud of what we've achieved and where we are, but we're not content to stop there. We're always looking for new ways to serve our students and the businesses that hire them. Over the past few years, we've launched groundbreaking centers for specialized study, networking and interaction. The Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management (BCNM) helps over 100 community organizations in a 10-county area. We're developing new educational programs based on these relationships. Through the Massey Center, established and aspiring entrepreneurs will forge alliances and develop new enterprises, while the Center for Documentary Production and Study will assist students in learning how to produce noteworthy documentaries.
