Men's Soccer Washed Away By Central Conn. State

Four days after leaving the Robert Morris University campus and heading to Connecticut, the Colonials men’s soccer team finally got a chance to play on Monday morning at Central Connecticut State. The Blue Devils won the game, 4-1, one day after it was originally scheduled to be played.

Robert Morris, who suffered their first Northeast Conference loss, will stay in Connecticut one more day to play Quinnipiac on Tuesday, a game that was supposed to be played last Friday afternoon. Both of the weekend's games had to be pushed back due to unplayable field conditions caused by over a week of rain in the Northeast.

CCSU junior Alex Harrison netted three goals for his third career hat trick to lead the Blue Devils to their first NEC win, moving their record to 1-1-1 in conference play and 4-3-3 overall. Robert Morris, ranked ninth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, falls to 6-5-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the NEC.

Senior Dan Campbell (Johnstown, Pa. / Westmont Hilltop) put the Colonials ahead in the 15th minute with his first goal of the season. Campbell bent a direct kick from five yards outside the 18-yard box around a wall and into the net.

RMU carried the lead into halftime, but it was all Central Connecticut State after the break. Harrison scored his first goal in the 52nd minute from inside the goal box on assists by Jon Agbatar and Yan Klukowski.

Jorden Holder made it 2-1 when he scored on a crossing pass that went over the goalline at 77:42. Harrison then tacked on two more goals in the next 2:28, making good on a Holder assist from 10-yards out and then beating RMU goalkeeper Matt Felice (Mississaugua, Ontario / Philip Pocock) to a ball in the box for his third goal.

The Colonials were outshot in the game, 18-9, as Felice made seven saves in the loss. Chris Rybacki stopped six shots for his first career win at CCSU.
