BLAW3100 - Legal Seminar

This course is designed for third year students who may be interested in attending law school upon graduation, but is open to any third or fourth year student interested in learning more about the U.S. legal system. The instructor will invite practicing attorneys to discuss their own experiences both in law school and in practice. Students are presented an honest representation of what they might expect should they decide on a career practicing law. Students study high points of U.S. legal history by reading supreme court cases which address key societal problems of their day as well as some which address current societal issues. Reading several key cases, will provide students with a better understanding of the legal reasoning process and of the role which the courts play within our society. Topics may vary from section to section depending on student and faculty interests. A seminar/discussion format will be used.
Prerequisite -- 60 credits.
