ELED4010 - Reading Methods

Fall 2011

Reading Methods is the course which provides the perspective teacher several methods that will develop and promote literacy and/or reading skills of their students. Because each student is unique in that their strengths' and/or weaknesses demand varied (integrated or balanced) approaches to the teaching of reading, teachers must employ a literacy framework so that all children's particular needs are met. Often, when teaching reading, various activities must be employed to provide for these needs within a small group, individually, or with the whole class. Prospective teachers will gain knowledge, practice teaching techniques and reading methods, design lesson plans, make oral presentations, observe and evaluate teachers teaching reading, and incorporate their strategies, technology, and sound principles of individual and group dynamics in various activities of this course.
Prerequisites: Candidacy Status, ELED3010 and ELED3350 Co-requisite: ELED4020
