ENGR2012 - Renewable Resources
Fall 2011

This course provides comprehensive overview of renewable energy technologies including biofuels, geothermal energy, hydroelectric power, hydrogen fuel cells, solar energy (active and passive), tidal power, and wind energy. The types of energy and potential uses from each energy source will be covered. The energy budget and overall efficiency will be calculated. The economic, social, and environmental impact of each technology will also be considered.
Prerequisites: ENGR1022 or ENVS1022 and ENGR1023 or ENVS1023

      This course provides a comprehensive overview of renewable energy technologies including: biofuels, geothermal energy, hydroelectric power, hydrogen fuel cells, solar energy (active and passive), and wind energy. The types of energy and potential uses from each energy source will be covered. An overview of the technologies along with discussion regarding the technology pros/cons, efficiency, costs, and implementation will be delivered in this class. As part of this course, students must sign up for the Faculty Led Education Abroad Program (FLEAP) to Germany in mid-May. Costs for airfare, housing, etc. are in addition to tuition.
