ARBC1010 - Elem Mod Standrd/Colloq Arabic Fall 2013 This course is a course designed for students who have no previous background in Arabic. Upon completion of the course, students will earn 3 credit hours, learn the Arabic alphabet, and gain sufficient functional proficiency in spoke Arabic to be able to live in an Arabic speaking country, to explore the landmarks and interact with its people without need for a translator. In addition, the course will provide the basis for reading street signs, newspapers, and other common forms of written communication. 3 Credits

CHIN1010 - Elementary Modern Chinese Summer 2013 This course is designed for non-native speakers of Chinese with no Chinese language skills. The course focuses on the fundamentals of Chinese pronunciation, the Pinyin system of writing, and the basics of writing Chinese characters. This course not only provides students with Chinese speaking and listening skills, but also practical writing and reading skills in Chinese. 3 Credits

CHIN1020 - Elementary Modern Chinese II Summer 2013 This course is designed for students who are beginners of learning Chinese language and focused on the four modes of communication: reading, listening, speaking and writing and the standards for foreign languages (five Cs): Communication, Cultures, Connectins, Comparisons and Communities. Prerequsite: CHIN1010 3 Credits

FREN1010 - French Language and Culture Summer 2013 This combines video, audio, and print to teach French in the context of French-speaking cultures. The courses are based on an innovative method that allows students to develop basic oral and written proficiency in French as they are exposed to French culture. Emphasizing grammatical principles, vocabulary, and oral expression at a level appropriate to students' prior study of or experience with French, these courses cover elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels and enable students to begin or to enhance their proficiency in French.
