MILS1001 - Intro Mil Sci/Leadshp, Part 1 Summer 2013 This course begins the introductory level leadership and management instruction within the ROTC Basic Course (first and second years of the four-year program), and introduces students to the Army?s organization, history, and unique leadership challenges. The course is organized into three main sections covering The Army?s Organization, Officership, & Communications, Leadership, and Ethics and Values. The use of practical exercise is stressed as students are required to first display an understanding of presented ideas and concepts, and then further develop their skills through use in their own work. Course Offered: Fall Semester 2 Credits

MILS1002 - Intro Mil Sci/Leadshp, Part 2 Summer 2013 This course continues the introductory-level leadership and management instruction within the ROTC Basic Course (first and second years of the four-year program) and continues to introduce students to introductory tasks commonly required of Army Lieutenants. The course is organized into three main sections covering Common Task Training, Land Navigation, and Mission Planning. The use of practical exercise is stressed, as students are required to first display an understanding of presented ideas and concepts, and then further develop their skills through practical use in their own work. Co-requisite: MILS0102 2 Credits

MILS2001 - Applic Mil Sci/Leadshp, Part 1 Summer 2013 This course constitutes the principal leadership and management instruction within the ROTC Basic Course (first and second years of the four-year program), while integrating communication and planning skills as they relate to small unit leadership. Topics of discussion and study include taking charge of small groups, Troop Leading Procedures, Introductory Small Unit Tactics, Planning and Orders formats, Leadership Communication skills and Evaluations. The use of practical exercise is stressed, as students continue to expand and exercise leadership skills introduced in previous courses. The use of Leadership Labs will continue to train students in individual-level military skills, introductory leadership tasks, and will also serve as an environment for students to exercise and experiment with their own leadership styles. MILS2002 - Applic Mil Sci/Leadshp, Part 2 Summer 2013 This course completes the principal leadership and management instruction within the ROTC Basic Course (first and second years of the four-year program) while integrating communication and planning skills as they relate to small unit leadership. Topics of discussion and study include the evolution of Officership in the Army from the Army?s beginning through today, introductory small unit tactics, and planning small unit operations. The use of practical exercise is stressed, as students continue to expand and exercise leadership skills introduced in previous courses. Co-requisite: MILS0202 2 Credits

MILS2003 - Leader´S Training Course Summer 2013 The Leader?s Training Course is an intensive 5 week leadership development course run cooperatively by every Army Military Science & Leadership department nationwide. The course is run in multiple iterations at Ft. Knox, Kentucky with the purpose of providing an alternate means for college students to meet the prerequisites to enter 3000-level Military Science & Leadership courses at colleges and universities nationwide. While enrolled, students are placed in an intensive training environment where they live, work, and learn in a cooperative group under 24 hour a day leadership instruction and assessment. Upon successful completion of the course, students return to their campuses and are able to contract to enter into the 3rd year of the 4-year Military Science & Leadership program. Course Offered: Summer Semester (Off Campus) 2 Credits

MILS3001 - App Ldshp/Tactical Pl Part 1 Summer 2013 MSL-3 will provide the cadet with instruction and practical experience in tactical and technical Military topics. The entire year will emphasize leadership development and application. The course content is structured from the Officer Foundation Standards (OFS) and instructional guidance from the United States Army ROTC Cadet Command. Prerequisites: MILS1001, MILS1002, MILS2001, and MILS2002, or MILS2003 3 Credits

MILS3002 - Adv Ldshp/Tactical Pl Part 2 Summer 2013 MSL-3 will provide the cadet with instruction and practical experience in tactical and technical military topics. The entire year will emphasize leadership development and application. The course content is structured from the Officer Foundation Standards (OFS) and instructional guidance from the United States Army ROTC Cadet Command. Prerequisite: MILS3001 Co-requisite: MILS0302 3 Credits

MILS3003 - Ldshp Dev/Assessment Course Summer 2013 The Leadership Development and Assessment Course is an intensive 5 week leadership course located at Ft. Lewis, WA. Students travel at the Army?s expense and integrate into groups of 36 students from College and University Military Science & Leadership programs across the country. While enrolled students rotate through leadership positions, supervising their peers through both academic and tactical activities in both garrison and field environments. While enrolled students are under leadership evaluation 24 hours a day for the duration of the course. Upon successfully completing the course, students receive a detailed appraisal of their displayed leadership performance and return to their campus programs qualified to enter the MSL-4 Military Science & Leadership courses. Prerequisite: MILS3002 Course Offered: Summer Semester (Off Campus) 3 Credits

MILS4001 - Officership, Command & Staff 1 Summer 2013 Course Description: Develops student proficiency in planning and executing complex operations, functioning as a member of a staff, and mentoring subordinates. Students explore training management, methods of effective staff collaboration, and developmental counseling techniques. 3.0 credit hours Prerequisite: MILS3002 3 Credits

MILS4002 - Officership, Command & Staff 2 Summer 2013 Study includes case study analysis of military law and practical exercises on establishing an ethical command climate. Students must complete a semester long Senior Leadership Project that requires them to plan, organize, collaborate, analyze, and demonstrate their leadership skills. 3.0 credit hours Prerequisite: MILS4001 Co-requisite: MILS0402 3 Credits
