Honoring Our Vets

RMU proudly serves veterans at the RMU Center for Veterans and Military Families all year round. Leading up to this year’s Veterans Day celebration, we need your help.

Thank a veteran for their service by creating a sign or printing one we’ve created for you, and take a photo that we can share with our veterans at our Veterans Day event on November 11. Share your photo on social media using #RMUvets or email it to veterans@rmu.edu. Horizontal photos are preferred.

RMU President Chris Howard, an Air Force veteran, and David Ausman, director, Center for Veterans and Military Families and a Marine Corps veteran, are leading the charge on a social media challenge to bring awareness to suicide prevention in the veteran community. For 22 days, the president, Ausman, and all who wish to participate will do 22 push-ups and post a video of them on social media using #RMUvets. The number 22 represents the average number of veterans who die by suicide each day in the United States.

RMU’s Center for Veterans and Military Families is home to the student veterans on RMU’s campus and provides support beyond education, now including mental health wellness with the VA VITAL program, dedicating a full-time psychologist to serving the needs of veterans on campus.
