RMU ID Card Office
The RMU ID Card is the official Robert Morris University photo identification card.
All members of the University community - students, faculty and staff - are required to have one. Your RMU ID Card number is used to access your online accounts through the RMU website. The card also gives you access into your residence hall. It's used to purchase meals and borrow books at the library. It gives access to the fitness centers; it is how to get into campus events and more.
RMU ID Card Policies
Obtaining a RMU ID Card
All students, faculty and staff are required to have a RMU ID Card. The first RMU ID Card issued is free of charge. Visit the RMU ID Card Office in Nicholson to receive your card. A drivers license, passport or another form of photo identification will be required.
Lost/Stolen RMU ID Card
It is the card owner's responsibility to protect his/her RMU ID Card. The cardholder must report a lost or stolen RMU ID Card immediately. The cardholder is responsible for any account activity made prior to reporting the loss of the RMU ID Card. In the event a card has been misplaced and cannot be found, it can be temporarily frozen or permanently deactivated by calling 412-397-5496 during normal business hours or by emailing email@example.com.
Temporarily Freeze a Card
A temporary freeze on the card will give the cardholder time to look for the lost card. No one will be able to use your meal plan or Colonial Cash while the card is frozen. When the card is found, it can be unfrozen by contacting the RMU ID Card Office.
There is no charge to freeze or unfreeze a card.
Replace a Lost/Stolen Card
To permanently deactivate a lost or stolen card, please come to the RMU ID Card Office in Revere Center. a replacement can be issued with a new Colonial card number. A $20 fee will be charged for the replacement card. The fee is not refundable if you locate your old card. Once a card is reported as lost/stolen it can not be reactivated if you find it.
If a lost card is found, it should be returned to the RMU ID Card Office.
Other Replacement Cards
If your card becomes worn out, and you are having problems with it swiping, please bring the card to the RMU ID Card office during normal working hours and it will be replaced. There is no cost for a replacement card as long as the RMU ID Card number on the card being replaced is your current card number.

Students with a projected credit balance for the Spring 2020 Course period (as determined by Student Financial Services), will have up to $2,000 placed on their RMU ID Card as a bookstore voucher for exclusive use at the Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstore in Moon Township. Bookstore vouchers can be used for educational related purchases using excess financial aid.
For students that are entitled to receive financial aid for the Spring 2020 Course period:
The first day students can use bookstore vouchers will be on Monday, 12/02/2019.
The last day students can use bookstore vouchers will be on Saturday, 1/18/2020.
After the add/drop period, the bookstore vouchers will be cleared off of the RMU ID Card and any remaining funds will be credited back to the student account and a refund will be processed according to the policies and procedures of the Student Financial Services Department.
The RMU ID Card is your key to campus dining. Meal plans and Colonial Cash are stored on the RMU ID Card and can be used at any of the dining locations. A valid RMU ID Card must be presented to access your funds. Cards that are damaged or unreadable will not be accepted.
Your meal plan money must be used by the end of each semester. Meal plans do not carry over from semester to semester. If you need additional funds, Colonial Cash can be added at any time.
Online Account Access
Because the RMU ID Card is unique to every cardholder, the 16-digit number given is part of an access code needed to enter the Sentry Secured Services area of the RMU website.
Using the last 10 digits of the RMU ID Card, along with the last 4 digits of your Social Security number and birth date, online accounts can be activated at the Robert Morris University website at www.rmu.edu/activate. Once this initial step is complete, a user name and password can be created, so it is not necessary to memorize the RMU ID Card Number.
Once a user name and password are created, students can start using the E-Mail address and account Robert Morris University has provided for them. This address will be a primary means of communication and should be checked regularly. Students will also have immediate access to the secured area of the website. Access to these pages will allow students to view their grades and obtain other information specific to them. Things such as financial information, official schedules, registering, and paying for classes will are available through this secured area.
You must present a valid RMU ID Card in order to borrow books and research materials from the University’s library in Moon Township. The magnetic stripe of your card is encoded with information required to borrow books from the library. Cards that are damaged or unreadable will not be accepted.
A RMU ID Card is required upon entry of our campus fitness center for all current student and employee fitness club members. Information about fitness center programs and membership options is available on www.rmu.edu/fitness.
All RMU ID Cards are the property of Robert Morris University and are not transferable. The card is governed by the policies and procedures of the University. Robert Morris University is not responsible for any expenses resulting from the loss, theft or misuse of the RMU ID Card.
