Office of the Registrar - International Students
Graduation Application and Information
Robert Morris University posts degrees three times a year: May, August and December.
A degree is not automatically awarded when degree requirements are met. Each candidate must submit an application for graduation to the Registrar's Office the semester before they plan to graduate.
Students may apply for graduation online by logging into their Sentry account, then accessing the Banner system and selecting the 'Apply to Graduate' link located on the left side menu.
A student completing a certificate credential must either download or print and complete the Certificate Application.
Once all of the required documents have been submitted, the Registrar's Office will begin the degree audit process. Students who are lacking a requirement to graduate will receive an email alerting them when the final audit is completed.
Commencement is conducted in May of each year. All undergraduate and graduate students who have completed graduation requirements the prior August and December or who expect to complete graduation requirements in May are eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony. Participation in the commencement ceremony does not indicate that graduation requirements have been met. Students may visit the Commencement website for further details regarding the ceremony.
At the end of each semester an audit of each degree application is conducted and if all requirements have been completed, a degree is awarded. If the audit shows deficiencies in completing degree requirements, an email is sent to the student identifying the deficiencies.
It is strongly recommended for international students to match the name printed on their diploma to the exact name as it appears on your passport for visa, insurance or other official verification purposes. Various international governments and verification agencies will not accept a student’s diploma as an official document if the name does not match the name on the University record and passport.
Address Changes for Mailing a Diploma
Diplomas are mailed within 8-10 weeks of the end of the semester.
During your final semester, ensure that all three addresses on record are the same address for the purpose of mailing your diploma. If you change your address after degree conferral, you will be responsible for the postage of remailing your diploma when it is returned to the manufacturer. You must remit a check or money order prior to the re-mailing of your diploma.

Diploma Issuing & Apostille Information
Undergraduate and graduate students may request replacement copies of their diploma from the Office of the Registrar. By completing the form, replacement diplomas can be ordered by the graduate only. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing.
If your name has changed since you graduated, your diploma will still read your name as of when you graduated from Robert Morris University unless you formally request a change of name.
The apostille ensures that public documents issued in one signatory country will be recognized as valid in another signatory country. The sole function of the apostille is to certify the authenticity of the signature on the documents; the capacity in which the person signing the document; and the identity of any stamp or seal affixed to the document.
The University Registrar currently makes the following general documents available for the apostille process: diploma, transcripts and enrollment/degree certification. If you require this service, please note details for your apostille on your signed documents request and submit it to the attention of the Office of the Registrar. Given the additional complexity of notarization, please allow one week for processing transcripts and certifications, and up to six weeks for replacement diplomas.
