On Friday, September 25, an intruder gained access to an RMU event being conducted through Google Meet. To prevent such occurrences in the future, the university is taking the following steps:

• We will implement an additional layer of security around our meetings, such that anonymous users will be blocked. Users must be authenticated with either an RMU email account or another Gmail account. 
• RMU has opened a case with Google to further investigate the meeting attack. 
• We are requesting that Google provide additional host controls that are currently unavailable, such as "Mute All.”
• RMU Information Technology and Information Security are preparing additional training materials to help faculty and staff understand the security controls available to better protect our meetings from future attacks.
• Additionally training materials will be sent to faculty and staff as a part of 2020 Cyber Security Awareness Month, which takes place in October.
