News

  • Five teams comprised of students from across three schools participated in this year's Wicked Problem Innovation Hackathon featuring the opioid crisis in Allegheny County. First places winners were Zachary Rile (Finance), Danielle Holmes (Biomedical Engineering), and Shelby McCart (Marketing). Second place winners were Niki McClure, Mia Krolczyk, and Olivia Ricci (Industrial Engineering Majors). Third place winners were Rachel Vigna, Virgina Fletcher, and Erin Ferrari (Industrial Engineering Majors).
  • RMU's "Get Ready" brand campaign captured Gold and Design Excellence awards for the university's agency partner, Wall-to-Wall Studios, at AIGA PGH365, Pittsburgh's annual design competition and exhibition. Learn more here. 
  • The RMU American Marketing Association Student Chapter was recognized as a Top 25 Chapter at the AMA International Conference recently in New Orleans. The chapter is advised by Steve Clinton, professor of marketing. The AMA chapter has won an award at the conference each year for the past 18 years. 

Personal Mention

  • Christine Holtz, professor of media arts, has photography included in Environment Documenta opening April 24 at Millepiani Exhibition Space in Rome.

Upcoming Events

  • The 13th annual RMU Intersections Undergraduate Research Conference will be held in Yorktown today, Friday, April 26, from noon to 4:15 p.m. Students from all schools will be presenting research at the conference. You can find the full schedule for the conference here.
  • The Department of Media Arts presents the outstanding work of our graduating seniors. Join us in the Media Arts Gallery on the first floor of Wheatley Center as we celebrate their accomplishments, and view the best work from Digital Cinema and Television, Graphic Design, Interaction Design and Photography. 

    Exhibition Dates: April 23 - May 10
    Gallery Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.; Thursday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

  • The Wellness Committee presents RMU Health Fair featuring raffle prizes, healthy & organic options, financial health, fitness information, and more! Today, Friday, April 26 from 10 am - 2 pm at John Jay Gym. All are invited to attend and there is no cost.
     
  • All faculty staff and students are invited to an open house for the UPMC Events Center from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. Come check out the new home of the Colonials men's and women's basketball teams and women's volleyball teams, as well as the Pittsburgh region's newest concert and conference venue. RMU will celebrate the 94th commencement in the building May 10-11, and the first concert, featuring Evanescence, takes place on Sunday, May 12. Everyone is also invited to a community open house for the building on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. Check out this complete list of upcoming events at the UPMC Events Center.
     
  • The Center for Veteran's and Military Families invites you to the following ROTC events on Friday, May 10 in the Yorktown Hall:
    • 9 a.m. - Retirement of Major Anderson
    • 10 a.m. - United States Army Commission Ceremony

    Seven RMU students are Commissioning as 2nd Lieutenants in the U.S. Army, including, Daniel Delpha, Ciera Thompson, Jacob Weiland, Wesley St. Cyr, Abagail Santora, and Caleb Magowan.
