  • Monica VanDieren, university professor of mathematics, has received a $3,700 grant from the Pennsylvania Grants for Open and Affordable Learning program for a project titled "WeBWorK Problems, Solutions, and Hints for Multivariable Calculus." In this project she will create and disseminate an open educational resource in the WeBWorK STEM online homework system. Her resource will include a bank of WeBWorK homework, test, and discovery-based exploration problems for multivariable calculus to supplement those that are in the Active Calculus OER textbook.  

  • A pair of RMU football student-athletes were named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District 2 Team Thursday according to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as junior linebacker Aniello Buzzacco and senior offensive lineman Dylan Young each earned their first career honor. Buzzacco and Young will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot for national recognition. Honorees will be announced in July. CoSIDA's District 2 includes student-athletes that play for institutions from the states of Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.   • The RMU rowing team had 15 student-athletes named 2021 National Scholar-Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). To be considered, a student-athlete must be in their second year of eligibility, rowed in her institution's NCAA eligible boat for a minimum of 75 percent of spring competitions and own a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher. Earning accolades for the Colonials were redshirt senior Kestra Harris, seniors Madelyn GreenRachel GressNicole KristofMia Krolczyk and Molly McGuire, juniors Marissa BeckKaitlyn GrubbsMadyson OrlandoJayme Sanner and Mary Woods and sophomore Christina Brunette.
