  • Monica VanDieren, university professor of mathematics and director of the Honors Program, had a chapter published in the book, Teaching and Learning Mathematics Online. In the book, VanDieren was the lead co-author of the chapter titled "Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge for Meaningful Learning and Instrumental Orchestrations: A case study of a cross product exploration using CalcPlot3D."
  • VanDieren also gave a presentation "Turning to WeBWorK when Classes Turned Remote" in the third international conference E-Assessments in Mathematical Sciences, organized by Newcastle University. In her presentation VanDieren discussed how she leveraged the WeBWorK open source homework platform, along with its extensive Open Problems Library, to not only serve as a summative assessment tool, but also as a means to deliver asynchronous content and formative assessments to her multivariable calculus students when classes moved online due to the pandemic.
  • The Health Services Administration program received the final report from the accrediting body, Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Management. The master's HSA program received initial accreditation for a full three year period, the maximum able to be awarded. In addition, the program received four areas of outstanding performance: 
    • Use of technology in the classroom i.e. flipgrid and EdPuzzle

    • Use of Industry Experts through the "Day in the Life" interview series

    • Commitment of the faculty in the program

    • Commitment and involvement of the director in the healthcare community.

    The program includes program director Holly Hampe, professors Jillian Harrington and Diane Frndak, and interim department head Samantha Monda.    

  • Senior men's lacrosse players Austin Popovich and Ryan Smith were honored for their work in the classroom by being named 2020 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) / Warrior and New Balance NCAA Division I Scholar All-Americans.
  • The women's volleyball and women's basketball programs were honored last month by the Northeast Conference for posting the highest team grade point average among its peers.
  • RMU women's hockey forward Jaycee Gebhard capped arguably the most decorated career in program history Friday by being named to the 2019-2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® At-Large Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
