  • RMU partnered with the University of Pittsburgh for the second consecutive year to host the Air Force Associaton Cyber Camp last month, which attracted dozens of middle and high school students interested in cybersecurity. RMU and Pitt each hosted a camp, through the RMU Center for Cyber Research and Training and the University of Pittsburgh Institute for Cyber Law Policy, and Security.   • A total of 29 student-athletes from the Robert Morris University rowing team were named to the 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Academic Honor Roll.
  • Kwabena Kumah and Keyshawn Dowell attended the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity national convention in Philadelphia as two of 60 undergraduates invited to participate in the LEAD Kappa program which included leadership development. They also placed second overall in the National Quiz Bowl on fraternity history and procedure.
  • The RMU chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity received the following awards at their Kleberg Emerging Leaders Institute at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio:
    -Gold Star Chapter (highest possible rating for fraternity operations)
    -Excellence in Risk Prevention
    -Excellence in Chapter Reporting
    -Excellence in Ritual
    -#1 in Chapter Size (largest fraternity on campus)
    -#1 GPA (highest fraternity GPA on campus)
    -Excellence in Academics

Personal Mention

  • Scott Irlbacher, director of special programs and student community standards, has been named the Phi Delta Theta 2019 Campus Professional of the Year. Phi Delta Theta, an international fraternity, honors only one such individual each year. Irlbacher was nominated by members of the Phi Delta Theta chapter at RMU as well as its advisors. 
  • AnnMarie LeBlanc, professor of media arts, has her work titled, "The Rain Within: Embracing Demeter," included in the national exhibition titled "Transformations: Figures of Our Other Selves." This exhibition was adjudicated by Carol Fabricatore, juror, American illustrator and member of the Society of Illustrators. The exhibition runs from August 17 - September 24 at Mills Pond Gallery in Saint James, New York.

  • The RMU CEO Lecture Series will resume Wednesday, Sept. 4, with a talk by Thomas Tull -- entrepreneur, philanthropist, film producer (The Dark Knight, The Hangover, Inception), and minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers -- from 3 to 5 p.m. in the UPMC Events Center.
