The return of the two programs marks another milestone in the continued growth of RMU Athletics, reflecting years of strategic planning and investment while further strengthening the University's broad-based Division I athletics program. Both teams last competed during the spring of 2014 and will begin competition once again during the 2026-27 academic year.

The addition of the programs provides new opportunities for prospective student-athletes to compete at the highest level of collegiate athletics while earning a Robert Morris degree. Both teams will compete as members of the Horizon League, further enhancing the conference's competitive landscape and expanding opportunities for RMU student-athletes.

Women's Golf will be led by Director of Golf at RMU Steve Shingledecker, while Bryan Delsite will guide the Men's Outdoor Track & Field program. Both coaches bring a wealth of experience and will begin building their inaugural rosters immediately with an anticipated return for the 2026-27 season.

“We are thrilled to expand RMU Golf with the addition of our new women’s program this fall,” said Shingledecker. “Elevating our golf presence allows us to provide more elite student-athletes with the opportunity to compete, grow and build a lasting legacy here at Robert Morris.”

“The return of men’s track and field is a tremendous moment for our university, our alumni and the entire track and field community,” said Delsite. “We’re incredibly excited to once again provide opportunities for young men to compete, grow and represent RMU with pride. We’re especially excited to return to competition in the Horizon League, where we’ll have the opportunity to challenge some of the best programs in the conference and establish RMU as a program capable of competing for championships.”
