RMU Earns Gold Status as a Military Friendly® School

Robert Morris University has been awarded Gold status as a Military Friendly® School by VIQTORY, a service-disabled veteran-owned small business and the premier military marketing company in the country.

Only 162 of more than 1,200 universities and professional schools participating in VIQTORY’s 2021-2022 survey have been selected for Gold award status. The designation of Gold status is a promotion from RMU’s last ranking as a Bronze Military Friendly® School.

Designations are based on a core set of outcome data including degree transfer, advancement, graduation rate, and job placement, sourced from public data and surveys of schools and veterans, with results audited by Ernst & Young.

"Increasing our Military Friendly® status ranking from Bronze to Gold is a recognition of the robust services we have always provided as well as an exciting celebration of the continuous enhancements and new initiatives we have put in place,” said David Ausman, director of the RMU Center for Veterans and Military Families. “The Gold destination highlights the combined efforts of the Center for Veterans and Military Families and the entire Robert Morris University community to create an environment in which our veteran, military, and military family students can flourish and thrive."

The Military Friendly® ratings program was started in 2003 as an advocacy vehicle to encourage civilian organizations to invest in programs to recruit, retain and advance veterans as employees, entrepreneurs, and students.

The Military Friendly® surveys institutions on six categories deemed critical in helping veterans thrive on campus and later in the workplace:

  • Academic Policies & Compliance
  • Admissions & Orientation
  • Culture & Commitment
  • Financial Aid & Loan Repayment
  • Graduation & Career Outcomes
  • Military Student Support & Retention

Final ratings are determined by combining an institution’s Military Friendly® Schools survey score with an assessment of the institution’s ability to meet minimum thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement and loan repayment rates for all students and specifically for student veterans based on public data.
