RMU Wins Fifth Collegiate Pillar for Live Sporting Event Production at 2026 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards
Robert Morris University (RMU) students were recognized for excellence in live sports production at the 2026 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards, earning the Collegiate Pillar in the category of College – Live Sporting Event/Game for their entirely student-run production of an RMU women’s hockey game against Lindenwood.

The awards were presented during the annual Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Philadelphia. The recognition marks the fifth Collegiate Pillar RMU has received in the Live Sporting Event/Game category since 2016, with three of those honors coming within the past three years. The award highlights the hands-on opportunities RMU students receive to develop the technical, creative and collaborative skills required for careers in live sports and television production.

Dylan McKenna, a 2018 RMU alumnus who works with the University’s live sports production program, praised the students for the preparation and teamwork that goes into each broadcast.
“It has been an absolute honor to watch these students excel in the area of live sports production here at Robert Morris. The amount of preparation, communication and teamwork they put into these shows will absolutely lead them to successful careers in this field, or any field they choose. I'm proud of each and every one of them and cannot wait to see what they do next.”
In addition to the student production team’s Collegiate Pillar, RMU was represented by two other award-winning productions at the 2026 Mid Atlantic Emmy Awards. Cayce McCabe, through his company Adwell, received recognition in the Sporting Open/Tease category for the 2026 RMU Men’s Basketball Intro Video. Carlos Robles, who works with Adwell, received recognition in the Editor for Spot Announcement category for his work on RMU basketball intro videos from the 2025-26 season.
Together, the recognitions reflect the breadth of creative and production work connected to RMU athletics and the opportunities available for students to gain experience in sports media and entertainment.
