Professional Development: Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins partner with RMU to deliver leadership development to small groups, such as new and aspiring managers.

The NHL organization recently completed its first cohort of leadership training with RMU, which took part over three sessions led by RMU faculty. Topics include organizational behavior, effective facilitation, meeting design and self-assessment. Two more cohorts are planned for this fall and the spring of 2020.

RMU is Official Higher Education Partner of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and provides leadership development programs for the Penguins staff, including at the new RMU Conference Center at PPG Paints Arena. The meeting space on the PNC Legends level can be configured into up to four conference rooms and is used by the university for additional corporate leadership programs and alumni events Downtown.

The Penguins also offer RMU students educational and professional opportunities, including dedicated internship positions, as part of the agreement.

"Robert Morris University and the Pittsburgh Penguins are natural partners, given our shared love for this city, our commitment to excellence and our passion for hockey," said RMU President Chris Howard.

"We've always had a great relationship with Robert Morris University and the Colonials, and now we are thrilled to take this winning combination to the next level," said Penguins CEO and President David Morehouse.

The Penguins and RMU teamed up to host the NCAA Frozen Four in 2013 and will do so again in 2021.
