This course is intended for actuarial science and statistics majors. The course provides an understanding of foundational statistical concepts that will be crucial for more advanced courses. Examples assignments and projects are drawn from various areas of actuarial science and statistics in order to give students an appreciation of the variety of applications in industry. The course makes substantial use of Excel as a tool for solving problems.3 credits
