Emerging Technologies in Criminal Justice explores the rapidly evolving tools systems and methods that are shaping the modern criminal justice landscape. This course examines current and emerging technological applications in policing courts corrections and community engagement with a focus on their impact on efficiency effectiveness and ethical considerations. Through a combination of case studies hands-on projects and critical discussions students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how technologies such as artificial intelligence big data analytics open source intelligence biometrics robots drones body-worn cameras and digital forensics are transforming criminal justice operations. The course also highlights potential challenges including privacy concerns data security and the need for ongoing training and policy development. By the end of the semester students will be better prepared to evaluate implement and manage emerging technologies within the criminal justice system.
