This course introduces students to strategies of argument required for upper-division coursework. Students read analyze and respond to arguments by experts and practice strategies for joining the conversations within scholarly communities. Readings will expose students to diverse viewpoints and may include narrative (fiction/ non-fiction) and non-narrative forms aimed at various audiences (ex. scholarly professional and educated audiences). Using these texts as models students craft their own arguments using credible sources in an ethical manner. Credits: 3Prerequisite: None
