This course introduces students to the architecture of computer systems beginning with the standardVon Neumann model and moving to more recent architectures. Boolean Algebra and Binary Algorithmsare discussed to provide the basics of digital logic functions. The laboratory component will focus onhands-on experience with digital logic (basic digital electronic components and integrated circuits). Inaddition various computer-based digital circuits design and simulation tools will be introduced and usedto build and simulate more complex digital designs. Students? understanding of computer architectureconcepts will be further strengthened through individual and group assignments/projects.Prerequisite: MATH4000 or CSCI22303 Credits (4 contact hours)
