This course is an introduction to the concepts principles problems and practices of operations management. Emphasis is on managerial processes for efficient and effective operations in both manufacturing and service companies. Topics include operations strategy process design capacity planning facilities location and design forecasting production scheduling inventory control quality assurance and project management. It is expected that by the end of the course students will be able to apply operational knowledge and techniques to real-world problems and scenarios. It is strongly recommended that students take STAT2110: Statistics or MATH2040: Finite Math & Applied Calculus before taking this course.
