This advanced course delves into the analytical frameworks managers employ to formulate and execute business and corporate strategies. The primary objective remains achieving sustainable competitive advantage (SCA) where organizations consistently outperform competitors. The relevance of these strategic management concepts extends beyond the business realm offering valuable insights for personal and professional objectives.In alignment with the evolving business landscape the course emphasizes the identification and cultivation of 'distinctive competencies' for attaining SCA. Drawing parallels to individual strengths and weaknesses students learn to analyze and leverage organizational strengths while mitigating weaknesses crucial life skills applicable to strategic decision-making.The dynamic nature of the business environment is explored considering competitive actions regulatory changes and technological disruptions. Defining sustainability in the context of competitive advantage becomes pivotal recognizing the need for adaptability and foresight.Competitive positioning strategies are examined encompassing the establishment of defensible cost or differentiation advantages operational scope considerations (vertical horizontal diversification and global) and the development of supportive organizational systems.
