Ethics is the study of right and wrong conduct. In studying ethics we consider the choices and decisions people make and the actions they take that reflect their values. As an organizational leader one does this to better understand what is good and right behavior in challenging situations that involve competing sets of values. Students will learn to make reasoned judgments practice reflection and exhibit self and other awareness about ethical dilemmas and decision making primarily through the use of stories and discussion of contemporary issues. Students also examine classical and contemporary theories and related concepts about ethics and are provided opportunities to practically apply these understandings to ethical dilemmas. Leaders and followers in modern organizations must know what constitutes ethical behavior and decision-making as each has power and influence through their words and actions. In this course students will grapple with common ethical questions and analyze the ethics of the various choices and decisions that can be made.
