This course is designed to acquaint graduate students with the fundamentals of understanding and conducting research that is typically carried out in organizations or used by organizations to make decisions and solve interpersonal and/or organizational problems. Quantitative qualitative and mixed methods commonly used to collect information will be introduced. Students will acquire a basic understanding and the ability to use the research of others and to know whether findings implications and interpretations are credible reliable and useful. Research terminology will be introduced. Students will perform research in collaboration with others to understand the purpose and process of the research study. This will include methods of data collection and data analysis to ensure credibility. The final project will be a research project and written report to present findings. Attention will be paid to understanding why some research is poorly done and how distortions in findings can be detected and avoided. 3 Credits
