This course introduces conflict as an inescapable part of interactions in organizations and all spheres of life whether conflict results from interpersonal differences organizational factors (e.g. shared responsibilities change) or other causes. Learning to resolve conflict is essential to leading organizations and being an effective follower. Many conflicts can be resolved through simply understanding the conflict?s cause and applying foundational conflict resolution techniques such as improving communication and interaction identifying differences or needs and correcting resource shortages. Students can expect to gain a deeper understanding of how and why conflict occurs the various interventions that can be applied to reduce or resolve conflict and greater personal insight into their own role and style in conflict situations. In addition the course explores how conflicting parties can negotiate agreements or seek the assistance of third parties who can assist with the process of conflict resolution.
