This course introduces students to the identification and diagnosis of general mental emotional and behavioral disorders of childhood and adolescents. Developmental social and cultural influences on diagnoses and treatment interventions will be considered. Topics of interest include: assessment & interviewing therapeutic engagement group techniques anxiety disorders social rejection attachment disorders depressive disorders substance use process addiction self-injury trauma related conditions disruptive behavior disorders family support divorce and resourcing strategies with school personnel.Prerequisite: PSYC7020 and Department Head Permission3 Credits
