SIHSS Welcomes New Dean, Dr. Amjad Ali

Dr. Amjad Ali has been appointed as the new Dean of the School of Informatics, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Dr. Ali has nearly twenty years of successful experience in higher education as an academic administrator and faculty member in addition to industry consulting experience. Previously, he was Associate Dean and Professor of Information Technology and Cybersecurity in the School of Applied Science and Technology at Thomas Edison State University (TESU), where he led a broad portfolio of cross-disciplinary programs and accreditations. Before joining TESU, he was with University of Maryland University College for 12 years serving in the roles of Director and Professor of Technology Programs and in the Center for Security Studies as well as acting as Associate Vice President and Advisor to the President.  

“RMU is fortunate to have someone of Dr. Ali’s caliber as a dean,” said Mary Ann Rafoth, university provost. “I’m really excited to join RMU at a transformative time for the School of Informatics, Humanities and Social Sciences,” Dr. Ali said. “I am glad to take this position because the school has tremendous potential for cross-disciplinary collaboration and growth.”

Dr. Ali has a strong record of research grant awards and scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and has served as a featured speaker and subject matter expert at conferences and government hearings on diverse topics in Cybersecurity. He earned his Doctor of Science degree in Software Engineering Management from George Washington University.
