NSF Cyber Scholars Grant Program

RMU has been awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for our Cyber Scholars program. This grant program is to help to recruit qualified students with financial need from the state of Pennsylvania into computing programs in order to meet the growing need for professionals in this field.

Cyber Scholars Award Package

  • Annual grant of $5,000 per academic semester, with the potential for renewal if continuously enrolled at RMU
    • Grant is stackable
    • Student must maintain a GPA of 2.8 for annual renewal of the grant

Minimum Eligibility Criteria

  • Evidence of academic excellence, as demonstrated by GPA as well as participation in student organizations, volunteer activities, professional experience, and awards or other recognition
  • Minimum GPA:
    • 3.25 for new first-year college students and college transfer students
    • 2.8 for college transfer students who have already earned an Associate’s degree
  • Student must qualify for a PHEAA grant
  • Student must be a resident of Pennsylvania
  • Student must be admitted into one of the following computing majors at RMU:
    • BS Cybersecurity
    • BS Computer Information Systems
    • BS Data Analytics
    • BS Computer Science

How to Apply

  • RMU Cyber Scholars application for 2024 will open on February 1 and close on June 1, 2024
    • Please note that an application for the program cannot be submitted until the student has been admitted into one of the eligible programs at RMU listed above. To apply to an RMU degree program, please see rmu.edu/apply
