Tell us about yourself and what you’ve been up to since graduating from RMU.
Since graduating from Robert Morris University, I’ve built a career at the intersection of information technology, leadership, and organizational growth. For the past decade, I have served as the Chief Information Officer at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, where I lead the institution’s technology strategy, cybersecurity efforts, and campus IT operations.

Prior to higher education, I spent 13 years at Concurrent Technologies Corporation, ultimately serving as a Senior Technical Director working on advanced initiatives in cloud, big data, and software development. Beyond my professional life, I serve on the board of the Greater Johnstown YMCA.

Robert Morris also played a pivotal role in my personal life. I met my wife through a mutual friend who was attending RMU at the time. While I was a student, she worked at a local restaurant in Moon Township. Today, we stay busy raising three children—one in college, one preparing to start, and our youngest entering high school. Whether professionally or personally, I continue to value the teamwork and continuous learning that my time at RMU first instilled in me.

What led you to choose Robert Morris University?
RMU was the only school I applied to. My mother, an RMU alumna herself, encouraged me to look at the university for its strong reputation in business and communications. The smaller campus felt like the right fit immediately. My experience was defined by playing club ice hockey from 1995 to 1997 and rooming with two close friends from high school—friendships and memories that remain a special part of my life today.

Who was your favorite professor?
I had a great marketing professor, but cannot remember his name! That was a long time ago.

How did your RMU experience help shape your career journey?
The "hands-on" nature of RMU was transformative. Early on, I was uncomfortable speaking in front of large groups, but the supportive environment and collaborative coursework gave me the tools to communicate with clarity and purpose. Additionally, playing club ice hockey taught me the importance of relying on a team to achieve a common goal. These lessons in communication and collaboration proved invaluable as I transitioned into leadership roles where technical skill must be matched by the ability to lead people.

What does being an RMU alum mean to you?
Being an RMU alum means belonging to a community that values growth, confidence, and connection. The experiences I gained at Robert Morris laid the essential groundwork for my career in leadership and technology. Just as importantly, it’s where I built the friendships and memories that I still treasure today. I am incredibly proud of my alma mater and the role it played in preparing me for life beyond the classroom.

Why do you think it’s important for alumni to stay involved with RMU?
Staying involved allows you to witness and support the evolution of the university. RMU continues to adapt for the next generation, and alumni bring a vital perspective by bridging the gap between the university’s history and its future. It’s a way to give back to the community that helped shape our own journeys.

If you could relive one RMU moment, what would it be?
If I could relive one moment, it would be working with the old character generator in the TV studio. I was a self-described tech nerd even then, and I thrived on the technical side of studio production. Getting hands-on with the equipment behind the scenes was an early spark for my career—it's where I first learned how technology serves as the backbone for communication and storytelling.

If you could have dinner with any three people — dead or alive — who would they be?
Sidney Crosby, Mario Lemieux, and Steve Jobs
