Cade Skuse ‘24
Meet Cade Skuse ‘24. Cade graduated last Spring with a Bachelor’s in Actuarial Science. Now he’s working at UPMC in their insurance and health plan division as an Actuarial Analyst.
“... I actually interned with UPMC last summer. Two weeks after the end of my internship, I got a return offer back and I accepted it pretty quickly because I really liked working there.”
The same month he walked across the graduation stage at RMU, Cade began working full-time for UPMC in May 2024. Now four months into adult life, we asked him to summarize his overall experience at Robert Morris.
“I would say, probably the best four years of my life. In general, everything there was so much more than I could have dreamed of. The amount of opportunities I had at RMU are opportunities I don’t think I could have gotten anywhere else. The actuarial science program is fantastic, the professors were able to do so much for me; and the student life on-campus… I loved it so much, from events to clubs on-campus… I don’t think you can get that at any big colleges–I think RMU does a great job with student life and creating an atmosphere that is amazing.”
Cade was a member of numerous clubs and organizations on campus including the RMU band, where he was president for two years, Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity, Sentry Media and served as the Class of 2024 President. He even delivered a speech at the spring commencement ceremony.
Above all the experiences Cade enjoyed inside and outside the classroom, what he values most since graduating is the relationships he made at RMU. Most importantly, meeting Megan.
“I got to meet the love of my life, who is now my fiance, Megan, during my freshman year. We met through RMU band–both of us were trumpet players– and now are engaged! It happened in March, over Spring Break, down in Myrtle Beach with some of our closest friends that we met at RMU, and, currently, we are planning our wedding for June 2025.”
His advice to soon-to-be alumni, current students and future Colonials is this:
“... I think the biggest advice I have for both new alums and new students can be summed up by ‘life is truly what you make it. Whether it be making connections to secure a job, volunteering within the local community, or stepping outside of your comfort zone to meet new people, you are the ultimate decision-maker in everything that you pursue. It’s up to you to set yourself up for success and future you will definitely thank you for all of the work and effort you put in now.”
