- For news regarding the university's response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) please refer to rmu.edu/coronavirus, which is updated regularly with FAQs, recent campus communications, and event cancelations. On Monday, March 16, classes will switch to online or other alternative instructional methods. Residence halls and dining facilities are remaining open. Among the events that have been canceled is Accepted Student Day which had been scheduled for Saturday, March 14.
- This week the top 10 percent of RMU business students in both the undergraduate and graduate level were invited to join the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma society. Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society exclusively serving business programs accredited by AACSB International. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive. A special induction ceremony is tentatively scheduled for April 23 at the UPMC Events Center.
- On Tuesday, the RMU men's basketball team defeated the St. Francis University Red Flash to earn a berth to the (unfortunately canceled) NCAA Tournament. The Colonials have qualified for the tournament nine times in the program's history, a conference record.
Personal Mention
- Maria Kalevitch, dean of the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Science, has been selected as a participant in the 2020–2021 Senior Leadership Academy co-sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) and the American Academic Leadership Institute. The yearlong program will host an opening reception in San Diego in November and conclude its closing seminar in Washington D.C. in July 2021.
