  • The countdown is on to RMU's second annual Day of Giving, Tuesday, Oct. 1. Last year we set of goal of 300 donors and got more than 800. This year the goal is 1,001 donors to RMU. We invite you to join us in supporting Robert Morris and inviting others to do so.  
  • The new RMU "Get Ready" brand campaign has launched. You may have seen the 30 second spot earlier this week on some premiere broadcast stations. You can see more about the campaign, including videos and stories of each of the six RMU students featured in the spot, at rmu.edu/getready.
  • Three School of Business students won second place in the market research category at the annual WTT Young Leader Award in Switzerland. Austin Hampe, Julie Powell, and Kaitlyn Shipton were part of a team with three Swiss students from FHS St. Gallen, Switzerland through the Joint U.S. Swiss Program. The team conducted a marketing research consulting project for Leica Geosystems, which sought information to enter the U.S. market with a solution kit product consisting of detection equipment and software for construction and engineering industries.
  • RMU sports communication major Christina Kowalski has been selected to participate in the College Football Playoff mock selection committee ranking, taking place this week. Kowalski contributed to the founding of a RMU chapter of Women in Sports and Events (WISE), led students in the "Networking with a Purpose" event -- hosted by Pittsburgh's WISE chapter -- is the sports copy editor for Sentry Media, and will graduate a semester early in December. RMU President Chris Howard is a member of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. 

Personal Mention

  • Rick Vaccarelli, professor of English and the humanities, recently had his book published, titled They Never Had a Chance to Spit. The book focuses on what happened to those who lost the race for vice president of the United States.

You're Invited

  • The 12th Annual Creepy Conference is creeping up on us. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend and present. A one-page description of your presentation should be emailed to Sylvia Pamboukian at pamboukian@rmu.edu by midnight today, Sept. 27. Selected ideas will be presented at the conference on Oct. 29 at the Wheatley Atrium. Ideas can be about any creepy topic: serial killers, UFOs, ghosts, hauntings, monsters etc. or they can debunk the supernatural.

  • Ambassador Robin Sanders, the Fall 2019 Rooney International Visiting Scholar, will give a talk titled "@The 4th Industrial Revolution: Its Global Challenges, Opportunities & Impact on You" at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in Hopwood Hall. Sanders, who earned her doctoral degree from RMU, is a member of the university's Board of Trustees. 

  • If you are considering earning a master's or doctorate degree, join Graduate Admissions and program directors at the Fall All Graduate & Doctoral Programs Open House. On Oct. 16, drop by Wheately Center between 4:30 and - 6  p.m.  Light refreshment will be served.  RSVP here
