Business

The undergraduate business certificate program is aligned with market trends to enrich career opportunities and enhance professional credibility. Students learn the fundamentals of business management, accounting, and marketing, and gain a broad view of the key functions at the heart of any organization in order to make better decisions and accelerate their career growth.

The 13-credit certificate is customizable with one 3-credit business elective of the student’s choosing. It is offered in online or on-ground format.

Mark Popovich ’86

Mark Popovich ’86 has done a lot for his alma mater. As a senior managing director and co-head of the Pittsburgh office at Jones Lang LaSalle Capital Markets, with more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, he has provided expert guidance to RMU’s leadership team. Even before he joined the university board of trustees, Mark took the lead in selling the RMU Downtown Center and organizing the acquisition of Yorktown Hall.

Michael Jandrasits ‘09

A legacy student whose mom was an alum, Michael Jandrasits ‘09 picked RMU because its sport management program could help him build a career combining business with his passion for sports. And it has — after working in minor league baseball and then for Pitt athletics, he now is an accountant for Dick’s Sporting Goods, working on facilities budgets and forecasting for the 800+ locations of the sporting goods chain.

Risk Management

The certificate program in risk management provides you with the tools and techniques to identify risks to an organization, evaluate their potential impact, and recommend risk reducing measures. Organizations need skilled professionals who can enable them to accomplish their mission by balancing the operational and economic costs associated with strategic decision-making. Risk management encompasses three processes: risk assessment, risk mitigation, and evaluation and assessment.
