RMU 100: Ready to Rise

As Robert Morris University approached its 100th anniversary in 2021, we invited you to help us raise $100 million to ensure that successive generations of RMU students will get an education to transform their lives, so that they can go on to transform our city, our nation, and our world. Thank you for investing in Robert Morris University – in our students, our campus, and the experiences that bind us together.

The campaign concluded at the end of 2021 & raised a total of $113.73M.

The Robert Morris story is the story of transformation: transforming the lives of our students, our region, & our world. The RMU 100: Ready to Rise campaign is an invitation for you to help write the next chapter.

Campaign Priorities

Throughout its history, Robert Morris University has evolved and adapted to meet the changing needs of its students and the community, but its mission has remained consistent: to launch students into great careers and great lives. The RMU 100 campaign is about our legacy. It is about our future. Most of all, it is about our students. RMU is ready to rise. Now we are asking you to lift us up.

Scholarships, Affordability, and Student Success

Robert Morris University is one of the most affordable private institutions in Pennsylvania, but we continue to attract many first-generation college students and others whose families are of modest means. Therefore, our top priority for the RMU 100 campaign is to raise funds for the university’s endowment in order to erase the $500,000 in unmet financial need our students face each year. In addition to scholarships, the RMU endowment supports teaching and research – including endowed professorships – and affords the university the freedom and flexibility to launch new programs to keep pace with a changing world. A strong endowment ensures that RMU will thrive for its next 100 years, and empowers our students to pursue their dreams

Academic Excellence and Educational Vitality

The success that our graduates enjoy throughout their career starts in the classroom, thanks to faculty whose academic credentials are augmented by professional expertise and experience. Interdisciplinary collaboration, the hallmark of all four of RMU’s schools, teaches students real-world problem solving which they apply to professional projects that benefit local corporations and communities. The Center for Cyber Research and Training, the Massey Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Center for Veterans and Military Families are only the most recent examples of how RMU faculty and students contribute to our region’s prosperity. Engaged learning opportunities such as Colonial Theatre, study abroad, and club sports provide a complete collegiate experience to all students.

World-Class Facilities

RMU’s 230-acre campus in Moon Township is a home to all our students and alumni, including those who earned their degree when we were still based in downtown Pittsburgh. The campus has grown significantly since it first opened in 1962, and it continues to do so to meet the evolving needs of our students and our community. The Robert Morris brand of professional education is enhanced through state-of-the-art academic facilities, including the new building that is in the works for the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Science. Energy and high-tech manufacturing are fueling Pittsburgh’s revitalization, and with your support, RMU and our students will remain at the forefront of this renaissance.

Athletics: The Competitive Edge

RMU offers 16 NCAA Division I sports, and your support ensures that our student-athletes achieve success on the court, on the field, and on the ice as well as in the classroom. Thanks to the generosity of donors, we have now built the UPMC Events Center and Peoples Court to showcase our excellent basketball and volleyball programs and create a more exciting alumni fan experience. And we are just getting warmed up. The Colonials have won championships and historic upsets, and we want them to continue to compete at the highest levels.

Ready to Rise

Every day, members of the Robert Morris University community live the institution’s mission to be big enough to matter, yet small enough to care. Our graduates work for the nation’s top employers. We have championship-winning Division I sports teams, engage in cutting-edge research, and build world-class facilities. But it is the personalized attention our students receive that allows them to thrive as engaged citizens and accomplished professionals. The RMU 100: Ready to Rise campaign will ensure that we can continue to provide our students with these advantages for generations to come.
