University-Approved AI Tools
The following AI tools are permitted for use when doing university business, which includes, but is not limited to teaching, producing scholarship and completing administrative work. RMU has license agreements with the vendors of these tools, where data security and privacy have been vetted. Tools that become available to the RMU community will be listed on this page as new license agreements are made. The Academic Council on Artificial Intelligence will periodically review this list.
Students: please note that AI tools may only be used in coursework when authorized by your instructor (see policy for more details).
Only when logged in with RMU credentials:
- Adobe Firefly
- Adobe Creative Cloud products (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, Acrobat, etc.)
- Google Gemini*
- Google Notebook*
- Google Drive products (Sheets, Docs, Forms, Vids & Slides)*
- Google AI Studio
* Personally identifiable information (PII) and Intellectual Property (IP) are safe in these environments (only)
Faculty and staff in the Academic division may request consideration of additional AI tools. The review process can take several weeks depending on the availability of security and data privacy information from the vendor and approval is not guaranteed. Requests for highly specific use case scenarios also may be considered and approved, but may not appear on the list above due to the nature of a specific application.
