At RMU, we take you and your future seriously.  That’s why we give you everything you need to become unstoppable in your life and your career.  The RMU Career and Professional Development Center offers a series of academies available to all RMU students, that provide practical life and professional skills beyond the scope of traditional coursework.

Upon successfully completing an academy, students will earn a digital badge that can be shared in various ways including LinkedIn, an email signature, and more! The process of earning the badges helps potential employers to better appreciate the competencies, skills and abilities gained. Showcasing your badge will help you to stand out in the job market as you display industry-recognized, employment focused credentials that publicize your professional development.

Interview Academy Seal

Interview Academy

This fun, practical, and interactive academy is designed to help you prepare for interviews by improving your technique and boosting your confidence.  Featuring interactive and simulated interviews, powerful AI tools, and personalized feedback, the Interview Academy will provide you with essential interview fundamentals, strategies for answering questions, and other tools that will help set you apart and land the job of your dreams. The Interview Academy is recommended for Juniors, Seniors, Graduate Students, or any student currently preparing for an interview.

Financial Wellness Academy

The Financial Wellness Academy will provide you with the framework and skills you need to manage your finances today and in the future.  Topics include basic financial wellness and literacy, healthy spending habits, investing basics, managing a financial crisis, and more. The Financial Wellness Academy is recommended for all students.

Co-curricular Engagement Seal

Co-curricular Engagement

At RMU, we believe that co-curricular activities like internships, practicums, and clinicals, enhance your academic experience and help get you ready for the real world. This academy will help enhance your experience by providing practical advice, opportunities for self reflection and enhanced interaction with employers and instructors.

The academy culminates in a poster showcase and professional presentation.  Students will have the opportunity to reflect on their co-curricular engagement experience with their site supervisor, university faculty, staff and students. The Co-curricular Engagement Academy is recommended for students who have completed an internship, practicum, or clinical experience during the current academic year (available to a limited number of students each semester).

Additionally, new academies and digital badges will be forthcoming in fall 2024 to support NACE competencies.

The academies promote the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) competencies. Career readiness is a foundation from which to demonstrate requisite core competencies that broadly prepare the college educated for success in the workplace and lifelong career management.

For new college graduates, career readiness is key to ensuring successful entrance into the workforce. Career readiness is the foundation upon which a successful career is launched. Career readiness is, quite simply, the new career currency.
