Welcome to your new home!

Adams, Hamilton, Hancock, Madison & Monroe Halls

Things to Know

Air Conditioning or Heat? You decide.

Each room has an energy efficient PTAC unit (much like modern hotel rooms) that you can adjust to your desired temperature. All units are cleaned before move in and again mid-way through the year.

The first time that the unit is used for heat during the year it may create a burning smell which is perfectly normal and will go away quickly.

Don’t block your unit (they need room to ‘breathe’) or set heavy items on it, this will ruin the energy efficiency and make your room less comfortable.

If you ever have any issues with your unit call (412) 397-4343, we strive to complete all work requests within 48 hours.

PaintLED light strips, posters and other décor items look great, but hang them carefully.

Command Strips: Although the use of Command Strips is approved, they aren’t guaranteed not to remove paint from the wall. The image on the right shows damage from improperly installed light strips. Surface damage, such as paint removal, will be assessed to you in the form of billable dorm damage. Avoid this situation by reviewing the removal process that is included in your concierge bag.

Command Strips will be made available to you at no cost on move-in-day, please reach out to any Concierge to obtain yours.

Bed frames can be adjusted to the height that you like.

If you need help maintenance can assist, but please be patient as move-in-day is busy, rest assured RMU will move forward as quickly as possible to make your new home as comfortable as possible.

Tool kits are available for your use on move-in-day, please reach out to any Concierge for a kit.

Marshall & Ross Halls

Things to Know

Each room has a Fan Coil Unit that provides both air conditioning and heat.

Temperatures are controlled from a centrally located boiler (heat) and chiller (A/C). You are able to control the fan speed between off, low, medium and high; however, the units offer only heat or air conditioning depending on the season— Facilities Management makes the change at the appropriate time of year.

Each unit is cleaned before move in and again mid-way through the year.

If you ever have any issues with your fan coil unit, call 412-397-4343 and it will be taken care of.
