Battles to Bikes

Battles to Bikes Upcoming Ride and Bike Giveaway

A little Background on Battles to Bikes:

Battles to Bikes was formed in early 2022 as a local non-profit. Born out of a vision of the owner of The Bike Lab Pittsburgh, Jim Yurek. Jim is a retired police officer, passionate mountain biker, and a successful bike shop owner. During his time of serving the community as a police officer, he unfortunately witnessed far too many instances of veterans struggling with post-military service. This reality inspired him to take action to do better for our veteran community after he hung up his duty belt. I am assisting Jim in leading the efforts of Battles to Bikes as the Vice President.

  1. Veterans Day weekend: Saturday, November 12, 2022 - Battles to Bikes will be hosting our inaugural Veterans Day ride and subsequent mountain bike giveaway event. The bike ride will commence and end at Helltown Brewing, Export and will roll along the Westmoreland Heritage Trail. Registrations are being accepted at this link

  2. Perhaps most importantly, we ask for your help in spreading the word among the veteran community about the opportunity for one local veteran to win a Giant Talon mountain bike. I’ve included a link to our application here. Within the application, we spell out the criteria for veterans to be eligible for this fantastic opportunity.

  3. We’re continuously seeking opportunities to build mutually beneficial partnerships throughout the Pittsburgh region, especially those related to the veteran community and the cycling community. Please reach out to us to discuss any opportunities for partnership. We can be reached at: battlestobikes@gmail.com

  4. Visit our page on Facebook and give us a follow to stay abreast of future events and recurring rides.
