  • The Society of Actuaries has extended Robert Morris University’s top designation as a Center of Actuarial Excellence for five more years through the end of 2024. Of the nearly 200 U.S. universities with actuarial programs reviewed by the Society of Actuaries, which is the world’s largest professional organization for those who assess risk for insurance and related fields, RMU is one of only 17 to earn the highest rating. The university has held the designation since 2009. Read more here.

  • RMU is one of only 13 colleges to receive the Opioid Prevention in Higher Education Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs to prevent and reduce the use of opioids by college students and to create naloxone training opportunities for post-secondary institutions.

  • Renee Cavalovitch, RMU's general counsel and vice president for legal affairs and risk management, has been named to the Pittsburgh Opera Board of Directors. 

  • If you go see 1917 at the Tull Family Theater in Sewickley tonight at 8:15, you'll first hear an introduction from Connie Ruzich, university professor of English. Her work focuses on "lost voices" of WWI and includes Behind Their Lines, a weekly blog endorsed by the United States World War I Centenary Commission. She'll be talking about how the film is set at a pivotal moment in history, how WWI is largely remembered, and how new technologies transformed military strategy.

    • The Media Arts Gallery is excited for you to join them for PXL, an exhibition featuring the interactive work of Wahila Creative. PXL is fun. Fun in the shape of LED cubes that you can interact with from your phone. Open up your mobile browser and create your own animations or come to watch. Either way, stand back and enjoy as your imagination comes to life on giant pixels. Exhibition dates: Today - February 28

  • January 23
    • The Department of English has become the Department of English and The Humanities. To celebrate this refounding, the department invites you to a Robbie Burns Night on Thursday, January 23, 5 - 6 p.m. in the Wheatley Center Foyer.     • RMU is hosting its annual Winter Blood Drive in partnership with Vitalant on Tuesday, January 28, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the John Jay Gym. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you want to make an appointment please email Donna Anderson your cell phone number and your preferred time. The entire donation process should take no more than one hour.
  • January 29
    • The department of marketing invites you to the Center for Sales Excellence Open House on Wednesday, January 29 from 4:30-6 p.m. on the first floor of Massey Hall. RSVP by Jan. 27 by emailing Renee Lyles.
       
  • The Enrollment Management Division is offering a professional development opportunity for RMU faculty and staff members to learn more about college affordability. Vice President Wendy Beckemeyer will present eight modules in the College Affordability Academy®. The following topics below will be covered in four two-hour sessions. A fifth session will be a capstone project presentation and luncheon, for all who have completed the Academy.
    The sessions are scheduled for the dates below, and will take place in Franklin 204.
